The Steadfast Tin Soldier

Once there were twenty-five tin soldiers that stood straight and tall. Each one wore a red and blue uniform and held a gun on his shoulder. One soldier had only one leg because the toymaker did not have enough tin to finish the second leg.


Zoo Duck

The duck ran here and there. His throat was dry and he could not even quack. Then he saw a high wall and flew up to its top. There below him, he saw a blue, sparkling lake full of animals and birds swimming together, happily! There were ducks, geese, swans, flamingos, pelicans, cranes and a hippo.


The Shepherd With The Flute

Once upon a time, there lived a shepherd named Raja in a village. He played the flute so beautifully that the villagers loved to listen to him play it. They would forget everything as they listened to the wonderful tunes of the flute. They believed that he could even charm wild beasts with the music of his flute. Raja was in love with a shepherdess named Rani. He had told her many times that he loved her. But she would never pay attention to him. Due to this, he was always trying to impress her in some way or another. Knowing that most people liked to listen to his flute, he would play very sweet songs for her. Listening to Raja's music, wild beasts would begin to dance.

The farmer was glad to see the trapped crows. He said, "You robbers, now you will meet the end you deserve." Just then he was surprised to hear a pitiful sound of cooing. At last he saw a jug of water near a house. He flew to the jug with a great hope and looked into it. But alas! There was a little water at the bottom of the jug. The crow could see the water but he could not reach it. The crow thought how to drink that water.

Suddenly an idea flashed on his mind. There were many stones near the jug. He picked up stones, one by one, from the ground and dropped them into the jug. The water started coming up. Soon the crow could reach it easily. He drank the water. He cawed happily and flew away.
