Once there were twenty-five tin soldiers that stood straight and tall. Each one wore a red and blue uniform and held a gun on his shoulder. One soldier had only one leg because the toymaker did not have enough tin to finish the second leg.
The duck ran here and there. His throat was dry and he could not even quack. Then he saw a high wall and flew up to its top. There below him, he saw a blue, sparkling lake full of animals and birds swimming together, happily! There were ducks, geese, swans, flamingos, pelicans, cranes and a hippo.
Once upon a time, there lived a shepherd named Raja in a village. He played the flute so beautifully that the villagers loved to listen to him play it. They would forget everything as they listened to the wonderful tunes of the flute. They believed that he could even charm wild beasts with the music of his flute. Raja was in love with a shepherdess named Rani. He had told her many times that he loved her. But she would never pay attention to him. Due to this, he was always trying to impress her in some way or another. Knowing that most people liked to listen to his flute, he would play very sweet songs for her. Listening to Raja's music, wild beasts would begin to dance.
"Oh, Doodles, you are funny," laughed Jake. "You're no good at jumping," Milo told him. "You'd better leave it to Izzles," added Bella.
Poor Doodles! He picked himself up, padded indoors to his beanbag and hid his head in shame.
A huge flock of crows became a great nuisance to a farmer. The crows would swoop down on his cornfield and destroy the crop. The angry farmer decided to get rid of them.
One day he spread a net in his filed. Then he scattered some grain on it. The crows saw the grain. They came down to eat the grain. They were caught in the net. The farmer was glad to see the trapped crows. He said, "You robbers, now you will meet the end you deserve." Just then he was surprised to hear a pitiful sound of cooing. So he looked carefully and found a pigeon among the the crows.
It was a hot day and silence every where. The rivers and lakes were dried in extreme heat. In the midday, a crow was crowing sitting on the branch of a tree. He was very thirsty. His mouth was dry. His throat was burning. He flew from place to place in search of water. But there was not a drop of water anywhere. The crow thought what to do.
At last he saw a jug of water near a house. He flew to the jug with a great hope and looked into it. But alas! There was a little water at the bottom of the jug. The crow could see the water but he could not reach it. The crow thought how to drink that water.
Suddenly an idea flashed on his mind. There were many stones near the jug. He picked up stones, one by one, from the ground and dropped them into the jug. The water started coming up. Soon the crow could reach it easily. He drank the water. He cawed happily and flew away.

One day, something really strange upset the peace and joy of the people of Hamelin. The whole town of Hamelin was suddenly flooded with rats. This had never happened in Hamelin before.
One nice morning the merchant received a message from the port that one of his lost ships had survived the disaster and had returned to the port. Jubilant with the news, the merchant at once became ready for the long journey to the port. Before leaving, he asked his daughters, “My dears, what should I bring in my return journey?".
The eldest daughter Bliss happily placed the demand of a beautiful dress, whereas Blossom, the second daughter sought a beautiful necklace as her gift. Pretty Beauty did not want anything as such. She wished her father a very happy journey and asked him to bring only a lovely rose.
One day the peacock saw a crane on the bank. He looked at it and turned his face away. Then he rudely looked at it and turned his face away. Then he rudely said to the crane, "What a colourless bird you are! Your feathers look so plain and dull."
The crane said, "Your feathers are surely beautiful and mine are not. But so what? With your feathers you cannot fly very high, while my feathers can carry me high up in the sky." Saying this he flew away. The peacock stood foolishly.
The copper pot saw the earthen pot and said, "My friend, you are made of soft mud, and are weak. Come closer to me, if you wish. I will protect you from harm.”
"Thanks for your good feelings for me," said the earthen pot. “But I dare not come closer to you. You are so strong and sturdy. I am so weak and fragile. By chance, if we crash into each other, I will shatter into a thousand tiny bits. If you are really my well-wisher, please keep away from me."
Saying so, the earthen pot smoothly floated away from the copper pot.
While the Queen spent her time admiring herself in the mirror, Snow White worked long hours in the castle. She always did her chores with a smile, often singing while she worked. One day, as she drew water from the well, she sang a song about her fondest dream. She wished a handsome prince would come to the castle and carry her away.
So all the animals gathered at one place. They had their babies with them. Juno went to all the animals one by one. When she saw a flat-nosed baby of a monkey. she remarked, "What an ugly baby! This baby can never get a prize at any rate."
The monkey's mother was deeply hurt by Juno's insulting comment. She held her baby close to her heart and whispered into the baby's ear, “Don't bother, my dear child. I love you most dearly. To me you are the most precious prize. I don't want any other prize. May God give you a long life."
