আমাদের প্রিয় শহর ঢাকার ভবিষ্যৎ নিয়ে অনেকেই উদ্বিগ্ন। দিন দিন ঢাকার জনসংখ্যা বাড়ছে। সেই সঙ্গে বাড়ছে নানা সমস্যা। সরকারের উদ্যোগে কিছু কিছু সমস্যা সমাধান হলেও বেশিরভাগ সমস্যা রয়েই যাচ্ছে। আবার পাশাপাশি নতুন নতুন সমস্যাও তৈরি হচ্ছে। আমরা জানি এসব সমস্যা একদিনে সমাধান হবেনা।
আরেক নাম বােধিদ্রুম। গৌতম এই গাছের তলায় ধ্যানে বসেই বুদ্ধত্ব লাভ করেন। গাছটি বৌদ্ধ ও হিন্দুদের কাছে খুব পবিত্র। বুদ্ধগয়া থেকে নেয়া একটি অশ্বত্থ গাছ শ্রীলঙ্কায়। দু'হাজার বছর বয়সেও দিব্যি বেঁচে আছে। এই গাছ বটের আত্মীয়। এরও ফুল দেখা যায় না, ফলগুলােও বটের মতােই, তবে লাল নয়, পাকলে বেগুনি। অশ্বথে ঝুরি থাকে না, পাতাগুলাে ছােট পান পাতার মতাে, আগায় একটি লম্বা লেজ। এই গাছ শীতে পাতা। ঝরায়। বসন্তে তামাটে রঙের কচি পাতায় ঢাকা অশ্বথ রােদে ঝলমল করে। এই গাছতলায়
দাড়ালে সামান্য বাতাসেও একটা ঝমঝম্ আওয়াজ শােনা যায়। পাতার লেজের মতাে আগা। ফলকে বাড়ি খায় বলেই এমন শব্দ ওঠে।
